Shadowfever (Fever, #5)Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! All of the books in the series have been excellent despite the nerve wracking, nail biting endings of each one. But, Shadowfever surpasses each of them, possibly because I went against my usual medium with the Fever series and listened to the audiobook. I was in NOLA and have my signed hardcover, but, I shipped it home and could not wait until it arrived. Both readers were awesome. But, having met Phil Gigante and having him give me a sample of his magic voice in person right there on Bourbon street in NOLA just made the story come to life more than my typical imagination. It is rare to have both a male and female reader to cover respective voices. But Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante just go well together. I now know that I will have to experience the rest of the series on audio too. Shadowfever, like its predecessors, was an emotional roller coaster. Being a part of the NOLA release party just made it an incredible experience. This story is hard to talk about without giving anything away and it is something that has to be experienced to get it. I will have to do a re-read of something next so that I do not measure something else against impossible standards after listening to Shadowfever, or, I could just start the series over now and experience it all again!

The Darkest Edge of Dawn (Charlie Madigan, #2)The Darkest Edge of Dawn by Kelly Gay

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! This one is hard to review. I loved this story. I love this series. But, the sky is not the only thing dark in Atlanta. The darkness comes through in Charlie's life and her experiences. I worry that she never seems to be ahead even when she is ahead. Try and figure that one out! Better Part of Darkness is a great addition to this series and I know that Kelly Gay will continue to write great things for this series. The individual characters may have a while to wait for sunny skies but they keep on pushing through and finding good spots in everything they experience.

Blood Challenge (World of the Lupi, #7)Blood Challenge by Eileen Wilks

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I believe I am going to have to take a break from urban fantasies with romance where the focus is more on the romance. I love this series but could not read the entire book. With that being said, I recognize that the writing was done pretty well. I am having a bit of trouble with storylines that are continuing for many books throughout a series. In addition, I found myself having little patience for any part that was romance related. All I wanted to read about was Lily and her story line, the investigation and the cool supernatural powers. I skipped over all the parts that had any hint of romance in them. But, I can say the end was quite good.

Hunted By The Others (H&W Investigations, #1)Hunted By The Others by Jess Haines

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Excuse my language, but, that was just a damn good story! Now, I'm forced to buy Taken By the Others right away so I can see what happens next. I loved the strictly human side of things and all of the politics in the story. Yes, some things were familiar, but, it is hardly a chance that any one story will ever be purely original when there is so much out there. But, the method of telling the story and the development of the characters makes it original and that is just what I found in this book.

Crimson Wind (Horngate Witches, #2)Crimson Wind by Diana Pharaoh Francis

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ahhhh, I really feel denied. The ending was so good but so hard to take. I laughed about 3/4 of the way through the book thinking I was in a version of The Wizard of Oz. Max has been through the ringer in this installment and with this ending I can only imagine what kind of hell she'll go through in the next book. A year is a long time to wait for resolution. But, I know it will be so worth it. Crimson Wind is great!

Mercy Blade (Jane Yellowrock, Book 3)Mercy Blade by Faith Hunter

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Man, do I love this series. Jane Yellowrock never fails to amaze and draw me into the story. New supernaturals brought into the story. Excellent folklore which has me wanting to not only read more about various tribal history and folklore, but, also wanting to start the series all over again and experience it all from the beginning!
