Dating the It GuyDating the It Guy by Krysten Lindsay Hager
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dating the It Guy is a cool, sweet, very angsty teenage romance. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review from EbooksForReview. Emme is this quirky, single child who has both her parents at home and is pretty well-known in her school for a sophomore. She has some pretty good friends and does not appear to have too much trouble meeting guys though she has had a bad experience. She is a bit new-agey and believes in lighting different candles for different wants or needs and using crystals to help with different things. It's what she learned from her grandmother who is very ill and in the hospital. Her grandfather is staying with her and seems to be a bit off-kilter also. It is all a bit much for Emme to handle but, her friends and family are standing by her, even her annoying uncle.

Brendon is the son of a U.S. senator, as well as, the grandson of a former U.S. senator. His parents have plotted out his life and he is towing the line but, maybe he has his own dreams for his life, dreams he has never told anyone until he meets Emme. They couldn't be more different and have backgrounds that are opposite of each other, but, they are drawn to each other. He puts up with her quirky stones and talk about the moon being in this quadrant and being in this year or that because they are so drawn to each other. But, this is high school and there are always people that may not want things the way you want them so they interfere in whatever way they can. Dating the It Guy tells a very romantic story about two teens with all their quirks and interfering families and friends who both have serious family things to handle. The author digs in and has both Emme and Brendon handling potential loss. One thing that threw me back into high school, and even college, was the friend that wanted to dissect everything a guy said or did. What do you think he meant by this and what should I do if he said that? Her friend Margaux was a bit crazy but so in tune with herself. She is the one Emme and Kylie go to with Emme's relationship drama. Kylie is the down-to-earth friend that is always there for Emme and both seem like friends she will have for life. Dating the It Guy is a great, fun read.
